An app called Dragon Dictation will eliminate the hassle of transcribing audio. Users can download the app on iPhones, iPads and iPod touches and sync their contacts from their email and phone book. This allows the app to correctly identify a contact’s name when mentioned in a recording.
The user records audio, and within seconds, the text appears on the screen. A keyboard feature allows the user to edit any errors or add comments to the text. Once the user is happy with the transcription, they can export it to a text message, email, Facebook, Twitter or simply copy the text and paste it somewhere else.
The app does not have the feature to playback the audio. Dragon Dictation can serve as a great secondary tool to a journalist’s typical recording device; however, it should not be used independently.
Dragon Dictation requires iOS 4.2 or later.
