With live streaming making a push to the social media forefront, Periscope offers the best package of accessibility and functionality.
Periscope, which launched a week ago, allows users to stream live video directly from their phone to their Twitter followers. Periscope is owned by Twitter and works seamlessly with any Twitter account. Twitter followers can also comment and leave “hearts” in real time. Users can also control who is watching their feed, whether it be all of their followers or a small group of friends.
Another social media streaming app, Meerkat, debuted earlier this month. The competition between the two apps for streaming supremacy has been lively. However, Periscope appears to be winning, with intuitive features like the ability to replay feeds at any time, as opposed to Meerkat, whose users are out of luck if they miss the live stream.
Periscope can be downloaded only on iOS devices.
